Why Does Dr. Bartell Only Perform Body Recontouring Procedures?
My office often receives inquiries for typical facial cosmetic surgeries, such as facelifts, rhinoplasties (nose jobs), hand reconstruction, and other rejuvenation procedures. I no longer perform these procedures, and I think it’s important that it be understood why.
Dr Bartell Excels in the Procedures He Performs
While I was well trained in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery, I have chosen to sub-specialize in body recontouring and not perform those procedures that other plastic surgeons find so lucrative. After several years in my career I became aware that I excelled in and enjoyed performing certain procedures such as body recontouring procedures. However, other procedures such as the facial rejuvenation procedures I just did not enjoy as much, and I believed that there were others who could perform these procedures with more impressive results.
About 15 years ago I made the conscious decision to concentrate on only those operations which I enjoyed performing and that I felt I was the best at. Perhaps it wasn’t the best business decision, but I know it was the best decision for my patients. I think it’s better to be an expert in a specialized area rather than to be a “jack of all trades, master of none.”

Currently the individuals who call my office with requests for procedures I no longer offer are referred to a select list of surgeons I believe can best serve their needs. I am confident that by doing so I am upholding the highest principals of being a physician and that my patients can receive the highest level of care.
