“I believe every patient is special and unique and therefore I treat them like they were my own family member.”
MJ Martin is a surgical technician who studied at both Madison College and UW-Madison to receive her training. She works directly with Dr. Bartell to assist him with every patient who comes to the surgery center. She prepares all the instruments that will be needed for each surgery to ensure that Dr. Bartell has everything he needs. “We are a well-oiled machine and work very well together.”
For MJ, the most inspiring part of working at Dr. Bartell’s surgery center is seeing the patients’ “Before and After” transformations. “It’s such a pleasure after their surgery is done and they are awake to see their reactions. Some giggle and some cry with joy. I love to experience their happiness!”
MJ is an artist and appreciates fine arts as well as the beauty of the natural world. She has traveled to Alaska and is hoping to see Ireland sometime soon. Her favorite Madison locale is the Overture Center and she recently read The Music of Silence by Andrea Bocelli.
