About our Studio Model Series – Seeing Is Believing
Once you’ve made the decision to have a specific aesthetic surgical procedure, much research needs to be done to make an informed and comfortable decision–how much it will cost, is there any insurance coverage, how long is the recovery time? There a lot to weigh and consider. Perhaps the most important question every potential patient wants the answer to is “What kind of outcome can I expect?” Or in other words, “How could this procedure change my life and how might I look when it’s all over?”
For some patients, being able to document and compare the “old” with the “new” helps them more fully appreciate their outcome. Which is why Dr. Bartell takes clinical “before” and “after” photos in his office as part of the pre-and post-surgical protocol for every patient’s medical record. Having photographs taken before and after surgery helps show both doctor and patient precisely how the healing process has progressed, as well as the exact physical body shape changes undergone from pre- to post-surgery. While these clinical photos are very helpful, they don’t fully reflect the personal transformation that often takes place when a patient achieves the surgical result they were hoping for. These important lifestyle results, and accompanying stories, can help other women who are considering undergoing the same surgical procedures make a better informed decision. To fill this void, we asked some of our patients to help out.
A few of our patients responded by graciously agreeing to work with a local professional photographer to participate in two artfully staged lifestyle photo sessions–one scheduled before their surgery, and one after. For both photo shoots they wore the same thing and were asked to choose an outfit they were hoping to look quite a bit better in after their surgery. As expected, the results of the photo sessions speak for themselves. The patients also shared their personal stories leading up to, during, and after their procedure–how they felt and what they experienced. It is our hope that by making more fully detailed personal experiences and outcomes readily available, potential patients will find their own decision about surgical body recontouring easier to make. After all, seeing (and hearing) truly is believing!
